Mind maps are visual outlines. Mind maps are very useful when trying to understand the big picture. Autism is a difficult subject to understand and mind maps can help you with a frame work to help put the pieces together in a logical fashion. Our mind maps are displayed in two formats: interactive and pdf. The interactive display allows you to expand or contract the map by clicking on the various topics to either expand them or contract them. The interactive displays can get too large to comfortably display on the page, if fully expanded. We also present our mind maps in pdf format, which you can zoom in/out using pdf software or your browser to display. I find them easier to use when viewing the entire expanded map. The pdf maps can be downloaded, if you desire.
The mind maps are designed to help understand the big picture. They are not intended to provide precise detail or to be followed precisely as a treatment plan. In the clinic we use them to help parents understand where we are in the treatment plan we use (a basic treatment plan) and where we need to go. While there is much we still need to know about autism, what we do know can be overwhelming without some structure. The maps are designed to provide some basic structure. Our mindmaps are also hosted Mindmeister.com. You can view the map on our site or follow the link below the map to see the map on Mindmeister in a new window.
